This chip didn't just fall into the device - there are plenty of stand alone 802.11 chips on the market. While it is thought that this chip might be used for Nike+ which uses a special ANT PAN, it has capabilities to do so much more. It looks like Apple could have some plans for Bluetooth on the touch. What do you think this means for the future of the iPod touch? Will you be able to tether to another phone? Will Apple even open it up for use? How about wireless syncing?

iFixit has disassembled the 4G iPod nano and the 2G iPod touch and unexpectedly found Bluetooth in the iPod touch.




At the top of the picture above the battery is a metal cover. Underneath the cover is a Broadcom BCM4325 Bluetooth chip. Yes, that's right, Bluetooth! Apple has said nothing of this publicly.

This particular bluetooth chipset supports BT2.1+EDR. No word yet on whether the one Apple included supports A2DP, which would enable stereo headphones.

Ce malo pozorneje preberem, vidim, da so samo pri iFixIt "razkopali" oba... in potem v besedilu je res omenjen samo Touch...

jap, "razkopali" so oba in pri touchu najdi čip. me prav zanima zakaj hudiča tega niso povedali? da ima ipod touch bluetooth je kr big deal.

Sicer verjetno nočejo da ljudje konektajo telefone preko bluetootha z ipodom, ker bi to pomenilo padec prodaje iphona.

Velika verjetnost je, da bo delal podobno kot BT na iPhonu...torej samo za slusalke... Edino smiselno bi bilo, da podpira vsaj AD2P protokol za stereo BT slusalke...


Mogoce samo firmware se ni "ready for BT" ... tako da so sicer hardversko vgradili... funkcionalnost pa bo dobil sele s kaksno novo verzijo FW... da bodo lahko spet zaracunali nadgradnjo ...

za AD2P pa še ne vejo če je apple vključil.

kot pravis, hardware je noter, zdej bodo pa po pipci spuščali posodobitve in malo po malo odpirali možnosti. pri tem seveda dvigali milijoncke...

Prejsnji touch, je bil pravi beta test za tole napravo. Skoraj se pocutim bebca, da sem kupil iPhone 3G. No, bom vsaj prihodnje vedel, da se splaca pocakat na september z nakupom .

Moje vprašanje - za vas, ki ste bolj v tem - se torej glasi: ali obstaja oz. se nam obeta z jailbreakom iPod Toucha 2G kakšna možnost razširitve uporabe bluetooth čipa? Npr. povezovanje na splet preko bluetootha v mojem mobitelu bi bilo zelo koristno. Ve kdo karkoli?

če je res pravi bluetooth čip, potem se lahko s kakšnim updateom nadejamo polne podpore bluetootha. zakaj pa ne.
